Dr. Mor’s research is titled “Content Moderation’s Back Yard: Restricting Visibility of Content on Digital Platforms”. It focuses on AI-driven content moderation practice that involves reducing the visibility of content without deleting it. In her research, Dr. Mor examines how social media platforms use this practice and what rationales power it. She also explores the reduction’s ramifications pertaining to transparency and accountability, users’ human rights, the power gaps between users and platforms, and how this practice allows online platforms to determine and shape social narratives and to exclude communities. Finally, Dr. Mor offers a path forward in tackling the challenges that this practice generates.
